I am a self-taught artist living in Florence. I have been painting for more than 40 years, focusing on plein air painting for the past 25 years.
Living on the Oregon Coast affords me a plethora of subject matter. I begin each painting by viewing the scene before me and quickly sketching with paint the basic shapes and shadows. I'm drawn to shadows and light in a scene, the more dramatic, the better. My plein air paintings are completed on location and therefore can have a rough and ready appearance which I think captures the moment and my excitement in creating the scene.
