Deborah Cray is a California native, a local Florence resident and full-time artist who is currently retired on a blueberry farm on the Oregon Coast.
At five years of age, Deborah was introduced to art by an older cousin. It was then when she knew she wanted to be an artist and quickly became interested in drawing animals. Although she attended art classes in school, Deborah describes herself as a self-taught artist.
Over the years she has painted murals and portraits for clients while pursuing her unique style. While Cray’s past subject matter has been animals and birds, she is quickly becoming known for her paintings that cross whimsical and realism.
Deborah’s choice medium is acrylic, and she enjoys charcoal and mixed media as well. Deborah states “Painting is a way to release my emotions on canvas and to bring a bit of healing to others.”
