Susan Thomas

Pastel Artist

Born in Surrey, England in 1959, Susan started her career as a

graphic artist working in a London Advertising Agency. Her

sense of adventure led her to the U.S. in 1980, immigrating on

the QE2 to Florida where she led a graphic arts department for

a Florida advertising agency.

After a long career in advertising and marketing, Susan moved

to Oregon where she met her husband Richard. They married

in 1995 and have one daughter Ashley, a budding artist and

photographer.

Their love for the beach started with a vacation home in Cannon

Beach where they found that by the ocean was where they

wanted to be, so they moved to the coast from Lake Oswego

in 2010.

It was during Susan’s volunteering at her daughter’s school Art

Literature Program in Lake Oswego that she was inspired to

begin painting. Now a member of Backstreet Gallery & FRAA in Florence, Trail’s End Art Association in Gearhart, A Great Gallery owner in

Gearhart she has found pastels to be her favorite medium. She has exhibited at Fairweather’s and The Jazz Festival both in Seaside, The Red Building in Astoria, Trail’s End Art Association in Gearhart and The Visitor’s Center in Cannon Beach.

“ I have found inspiration for my work walking the beach, every day is different and I am inspired by the constant changes in the skies which reflects on our beautiful landscape.I feel truly privileged to live in this community.”
