I was raised in the small coastal town of Bandon, Oregon. There I took full advantage of the blessings of growing up in a small town.

Having three brothers created its own challenges. I have always been an outdoor girl, riding horses since I could sit on the saddle without help. As a teen, I competed in fairs and rodeos throughout Oregon, with my Dad always at my side. 

In 1981, I met my husband, and we married a short time later. In 1983, we decided a change was in order. We quit our jobs at the West Coast Game Park Safari, sold our house, and moved to Nenana, Alaska. 

That’s right, we lived in a small log cabin, but worked in town. We enjoyed hunting, fishing, 3-wheelers, snow machines, and cross-country skiing. We experienced 50-degree below temperatures, the beautiful northern lights, nosey moose, bears and foxes.

The twins were born in Fairbanks. Beginning to feel guilty about being so far away from family, we again packed up, returned to Oregon, and settled in Florence. That was 36 years ago.

Here in Florence, I began to dabble in oil painting, using the Wet on Wet method. But--as you can imagine--raising a family and managing a career took up much of my free time.

With the twins grown with families of their own (7 grandchildren), I was able to spend more time with my oils. I paint what I like. Most of the time, the ideas just pop in my head, and I can’t wait to get them on canvas.

Oils can be a bit messy at times. Once retired, I began to look for something I could do at the kitchen table, during the cold rainy days. Watercolors were a natural choice.

I feel blessed that I can paint in both mediums, sometimes combining the two techniques. My art or colors are not enhanced or digitally altered nor do I use AI. 

So, it's full steam ahead and who knows what I may paint next. Please enjoy my art, knowing it comes from the heart.
